Brazil, is a vast South American country, stretching from the Amazon Basin in the north to vineyards and massive Iguaçu Falls in the south. Rio de Janeiro, symbolized by its 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado, is famed for its busy Copacabana and Ipanema beaches as well as its enormous Carnaval festival, featuring parade floats, costumes, and samba music and dance.
We visited Brazil in September 2013 to celebrate Ronnie’s 35th birthday. We stayed at the Granja Brazil Resort in Itaipava and Copacabana Rio Hotel. We enjoyed the outdoors and hiked around Camp de Adventuras Paradiso. We also explored Rio including the Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Corcovado (our first Wonder of the World visited) Copacabana Beach, took a cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain and enjoyed a Carnaval dance show with a Brazilian steakhouse buffet dinner.
