Cambodia is a Southeast Asian nation whose landscape spans low-lying plains, the Mekong Delta, mountains and Gulf of Thailand coastline. Phnom Penh, its capital, is home to the art deco Central Market, glittering Royal Palace and the National Museum’s historical and archaeological exhibits. In the country’s northwest are the ruins of Angkor Wat, a massive stone temple complex built during the Khmer Empire. We visited Cambodia in December 2017, and stayed at in Siem Reap at the Angkor Miracle Resort & Spa. We explored the amazing temples, including Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple of Angkor Thom as well as Ta Prohm, which is nicknamed “the Tomb Raider Temple” because it was the setting of the film Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. We also visited the sacred mountain and hidden temples of Phnom Kulen, and the massive waterfalls in the surrounding area.
