Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean with dense cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples. Shinkansen bullet trains connect the main islands of Kyushu (with Okinawa’s subtropical beaches), Honshu (home to Tokyo and Hiroshima’s atomic-bomb memorial) and Hokkaido (famous for skiing). Tokyo, the capital, is known for skyscrapers, shopping and pop culture.
We visited Tokyo, the capital of Japan, in the summer of 2014 and stayed at the Hilton Tokyo. We enjoyed exploring this bustling city, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks, shrines, temples, museums, including visiting the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Bay cruising, Disney Tokyo, and Robot Restaurant. We also visited the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, a mountainous town with amazing views of the iconic volcano Mount Fuji.
